I am sitting in seat 49G, a middle aisle seat, on this China Airlines Boeing 777-300ER flight from Taipei to Ho Chi Minh. For some reason this cabin has more appeal to me than the Premium Economy cabin I took with China Airlines this morning from LAX. I landed at 6.30am, went home for a bit of R&R, and now I’m back on board a few hours later. I’m starting to feel like a flight attendant 🤣.

The cabin is spotlessly clean, the crew friendly. My seat is comfortable and has a large touch entertainment screen with USB charging port.

The flight is full, no a single seat is left. Prior to take-off a flight attendant comes around to confirm my special meal I totally forgot about – Hindu non-vegetarian. It’s a mistake to have chosen this meal. It’s tasteless.

I watch TV for a while and start getting really sleepy.

Then the weirdest thing happens…

I use the bathroom in the Premium Economy cabin. I notice that there is a strange sound coming from one of the walls. On the other wall, the paint has distinctive watermarks on it. Further, when the faucet is pressed, water comes out but as soon as you let go, it stops- the free-flow function is not working. Hmmm – serious dejavu. The same toilet had the same 3 issues on my flight this morning from LAX. Out of curiosity I ask the flight attendants if this plane actually came from LAX today and lo and behold yes! I am flying on exactly the same plane – but this time it is to Vietnam.

What are the odds of that happening?

We land on time.
