I am sitting in business class seat 5K in a 1-2-1 confirmed cabin on this Airbus 330-200 Qantas flight from Sydney to Denpasar. I purchased an economy fare and applied for a miles-redemption upgrade for 36K miles and got it at the gate.

My window seat is a compact little cabin in itself, with a large touch-only screen, a new amenities kit by RM Williams, noise cancelling headphones, and a bottle of water.
Shortly after a delayed takeoff service begins with cold mixed nuts and a ginger ale, followed by dinner. I opt for corn soup as a starter, the brisket (which is absolutely delicious – it reminds me of the beef cheek I had recently on Delta One), and a wonderful deconstructed cinnamon cheesecake. All superb.

I watch a movie during dinner and when finished, convert my seat into a bed with a mattress cover at the push of a button. After about 2 hours of rest I watch a couple of episodes of an Australian series – “Two Years Later” whilst a light pre-touchdown snack is served.
It’s overall a good flight. The flight attendants are reasonable friendly. I think it’s worth the points upgrade.
