Hotel Review: Hilton Garden Inn, Bali

Third or fourth time staying at this airport hotel right next to DPS airport. I guess this is more of a ‘groups’ hotel in that there are many Mainland Chinese guests staying here. I understand occupancy is quite high (hence no upgrade to one-bedroom suite as we usually receive).

Upon check-in we are upgraded to a ‘Deluxe Pool’ facing room, which is essentially a standard King facing the pool. It is quite spacious yet very simple. No bath, only shower, desk, small TV, but comfy bed.

Shortly after check-in we go to the restaurant for a quick dinner. It is very good, and between us have the Pork ribs, Crispy duck, and fish, followed by a cheesecake-type iced dessert. When I ask for the bill to be charged to the room, I am told I cannot as I didn’t leave my CC details upon check-in. I actually offered my CC during the check-in process but the front desk supervisor said it is only one night so not necessary. Oops – operational challenges…….

During my short one-night stay I use the pool, gym, and have complimentary breakfast in the restaurant. The buffet is a little chaotic – could do with a more constant wipedown and change of serving utensils more regularly. Perhaps also invest in a new coffee machine as it is constatly being serviced during our 40 min time in the restaurant. There is one bright spark though, Mr ‘Made’ (I think/hope) – working in the kitchen making stir-fried vegetables and noodles – he is a standout – very interactive with guests and a huge friendly smile.

Look, this hotel is one of the 5000 Hhonors per night hotels – a rarity in the Hilton word, so definitely can’t complain. No doubt will be back to grab a cheap ‘night stay’.
