I am sitting in Economy class seat 48J, towards the back of this Airbus A350-900 Singapore Airlines flight bound for Haneda, Tokyo. My partner is lucky having scored a special seat that has no seat in front, giving endless legroom. As for me, I’m squashed in the middle.
Service begins before taking off with a hot cloth towel and menu cards. After take-off there is a quick drink service with a packet of nuts (I go for a Singapore Sling), and then nothing for about 3 hours until lunch is served.
For lunch I choose the Japanese menu. It is quite good with soba noodles and a main of chicken. Mini Magnum ice-creams are handed out 30 minutes later.
During most of the flight I watch a new drama series, “Press”, which is set in the UK about two rival newspapers. It is good and takes up around 5 hours of the nearly 7-hour flight.
Service is OK, not ‘amazing’ as is the norm with SQ; the attendants seem to be hidden away somewhere.
We land on time.
