I am sitting in Economy Class seat 66G, an aisle seat, on this massive Qantas Airlines A380-800 aircraft bound for Sydney. As passangers are still boarding the captain cheerfully addresses those on board for a good 3-minute monologue. I am told by the flight attendant next to me that he is the ‘famous’ pilot who successfully landed QF32 during an emergency landing operation.
Shortly after take off the menus and bottled water is handed out. Considering this is Economy, the selection of beverages is above average – for example sparkling wine and ‘Vodka Ginger Beer’ is offered.
Whilst watching a movie, ‘My Dinner with Herve’, my Braised beef brisket, roasted potatoes, peas and oregano onion sauce is served, with a delicious herb bread and Coconut pudding with palm sugar caramel is served. It’s delicious.
After I finish my meal I try to sleep. and get about 3.5 hours in total. Not bad considering it is an economy seat. I have the added bonus of additional legroom being in an bulkhead row.
About an hour prior to landing we are served a small breakfast of a muffin, fruit platter and coffee.
We land shortly after slightly ahead of schedule.
