Hotel Review: Hotel Monterey, Himeji, Japan

This business hotel right next to Himeji Station is apparently the newest hotel the city has to offer opening in March 2018 – https://www.hotelmonterey.co.jp/en/himeji/

I am staying here as my partner has come for work and I am crashing in the twin room (at an additional cost of around JPN 4000 not including breakfast).

The room is average in size for a Japanese hotel room, and has all the modern amenities you would expect to find including numerous ports for connections, humidifier, and a typical functional bathroom with endless supplies of amenities.

The combined shower/bathroom is only used once as the 4th floor has a public Japanese-style bath and sauna that we use on each of our 3 days here.

I do use one of my partner’s breakfast vouchers one morning and it is indeed quite a spread and has the famous Himeji Oden as well. The service is quite wonderful and the staff bend over backwards to welcome you and bid you a fond farewell from the banquet Hall.

That being said the same service lacks at the front desk upon checkout where a Mr. Kuno is quite arrogant when we ask to leave a package for a colleague to pick-up and smirks at our request.

Besides this the hotel is very convenient to all local attractions including Himeji Castle and literally next to the train station entrance.
