Flight Review: SQ 632 – SIN – HND

I am sitting in Premium Economy seat 33H on this Singapore Airlines A350-900 aircraft bound for Haneda, Japan. My partner has purchased my seat using 35K Krisflyer miles.

The seat is slightly wider with more functionality than the economy cabin behind in a 2-4-2 configuration. I still find the recline somewhat uncomfortable as the seat slides forward as opposed to reclining back. There is a lot of space and numerous plug-in ports etc. The AV touch screen is the biggest I have seen in this cabin and noise cancelling headphones are provided, similar to Business Class.

Shortly after take-off drinks are offered and I order a Champagne, followed by a Singapore Sling. Both come with mixed cashews and almonds.

A good 75 minutes later the meal service comes around. I have pre-ordered the Braised Beef Cheek with mashed potato and vegetables from the Premium Economy ‘Book the Cook’ menu. It’s OK. Although this comes with a western entree I have requested the Japanese entree which comes with soba noodles and a savoury egg custard.

I watch two movies – ‘Alpha’ and ‘Children’s Act’ – both are excellent, and combined eat up around 4 hours of the 6.5 hour flight.

For the remaining 2 hours I manage to sleep.

Service is exceptionally good and the flight goes by reasonably quickly.
