This is a relatively new hotel and with all new hotels has its fair share of challenges.
Prior to arriving at the hotel I do an online check-in via the Hhonors app and select my room and register for keyless entry. Yet upon arriving at 4pm I am told the room I chose is not available and I am given an alternative standard room on the 2nd floor. I challenge why this is the case and the Duty manager comes over, apologizes, and upgrades me to a king city view room on the 15th floor. The whole process takes about 15 mins despite the fact I did an online check-in.
The room itself is spacious and with a good layout and amenities. There is no bath, but a compact shower and toilet in the bathroom. The hotel also features a pool on the 8th floor next to the restaurant, a pantry with essentials behind the reception desk, and a well equipped gym on the ground floor across from the elevators.
Breakfast time is a challenge. There is no warm welcome from the male staff member at the entrance, and simply states it is free seating. I take the initiative to say 'good morning' with a smile to which he responds (albeit without the smile). The dining room is a mess. There are people pushing and shoving in the buffet queue, sausages are on the floor (I tell one of the staff of the mess and they quickly attend to it with a thank you). The food itself is very good and there is a wide selection.
For an overnight budget stay, the hotel is ideal, and will no doubt improve as time progresses. The location is excellent.
