Flight Review: TG414 – SIN – BKK

I am lucky to be given Star Alliance Gold privileges on this flight allowing me priority check-in, first to board, and an emergency exit seat 48C – a little further back than what I am used to but enjoy the ample leg room. Why? Well I was a little bit naughty and said I had TK Miles and Smiles ‘Gold status’ but forgot my card 😳.

Well I was but it expired 6 weeks ago. Not an eyelid was battered.

The aircraft is a relatively new Boeing 787-8 and running at 100% occupancy. But the flight attendants are smiling and seem happy enough.
Shortly after take-off the meal service begins and I am one of the first to be served as I have pre-ordered a seafood meal. It consists of a smoked salmon and potato salad entree which goes well with my soft, warm, wholemeal bread roll, barramundi fillet in a salsa sauce with carrots, French beans, and baby potatoes, and a delectable banana crumble-type cake. A glass of red and a coffee complete this surprisingly delicious meal.
I decide to spend the short flight watching the new Pixar animation, “Dory”. It’s OK, and helps to pass the time. In fact I don’t end up finishing it and fall asleep before the arrival announcement is made.
