Slightly outdated hotel although I am in the new East Wing, on the 39th floor. I have been upgraded to a suite and the check-in receptionist seems genuinely happy to greet and meet me with a warm smile.
I quickly receive my Double Tree cookie and make my way to my room which is a 2-room suite. The room is well appointed albeit slightly tired, and there is a lovely fruit basket and chocolates waiting for me.
The gym/pool/sauna is lovely and relaxing after the flight from Singapore. It is quite empty though.
The lounge is huge and unusually on the first floor. I have a couple of snacks and a bottle of water. Again, this is empty.
I sleep very well and the next morning I have breakfast in the restaurant on level 1. The food is OK. The Chinese staff are lovely but the Western staff (possible in placements from hotel schools) could do with a few lessons on customer service.
All in all a good stay.
