I am sitting in Suite 2A, on this Delta Airlines A350 flight from Taipei to Seattle. The ‘suite’ is very spacious with plenty of storage space and a sliding privacy door. The only other experience I have had flying in a suite was on a short Hong Kong to Singapore flight many years ago. The seat comes with 2 pillows, a thick mattress cover, and warm duvet. Noise cancelling headphones and a ‘Missoni’ amenities pack completes the package. The only letdown is an announcement by the Purser informing us WiFi will not be available until a couple of hours before landing. Not really an issue as there are over 300 movies and other media on the huge entertainment screen. When it does become available – it’s lightening fast.

I am greeting by the most lovely flight attendant who introduces herself to me and confirms my pre-ordered meal (beef short ribs) and takes my drink order. I decline a pre-flight Taittinger Brut La Franciase Champagne (I stopped alcohol a few years ago), but accept a warm moist towel.
Shortly after take-off the meal service begins with warm nuts and a Starbucks espresso, followed by an appetizer of Poached Prawns with Sriracha mayo, Cauliflower soup, artisanal bread, and mixed green salad. The soup is delicious.

Next is the Main course – the short ribs are absolutely delicious – I am truly amazed as the food reviews I have read are generally quite bad. But what a standout this is. Meat so soft and deliciously fatty it literally melts in your mouth. I can’t believe I’m eating this on a plane.

I finish the meal with the signature Ice Cream Sundae, with Biscoff cookie crumble, and cherry & chocolate sauce.

Naturally I’m stuffed and sleepy, so turn my seat into a fully flat bed at the press of a button and sleep for about 3 hours before I wake up for a snack – 2 pan fired beef and finer buns served with seasonal fruit salad.

Another attempt to sleep for an hour or so and decide it’s not going to happen so troll the movies and entertainment and decide on a movie from the ‘World’ selection – ‘Close’.
Breakfast is served about 75 minutes before landing and it is delicious – piping hot pancakes drizzled in Maple syrup with chicken sausages and fruit salad.

We land 20 minutes ahead of schedule.
Delta – I’m impressed.
