I am sitting in seat 19D, the first row of the second Business class cabin, on this Singapore Airlines A350-900 flight to Taipei. The cabin is empty – it’s just my partner and myself and a couple of flight attendants looking after us.
The seats are ‘regional’ business class but to be honest I don’t know what the difference is between these seats and long haul as they are huge, recline to a fully-flat bed, and are full of hidden storage spaces and endless buttons to press.

The interactive TV is large with endless channels of entertainment to choose from, and heaps of space to stretch out and relax!
Shortly after take-off service starts with a glass of Laurent-Perrier La Cuvee Brut (Champagne, France) followed by my much-anticipated pre-ordered ‘book the cook’ Indian lamb Shank lunch. It is delicious and comes with all the trimmings. I pair this somewhat strangely with a shot of Junmai Ginjo Sake (Japan) followed by a glass of 2015 Clarendelle (Bordeaux, France). The dessert is a particular standout – a lavender mousse cake and a cheese platter, which goes well with a shot of Baileys (neat).
As you can imagine after all the food and booze I become quite sleepy and ask the flight attendant to turn the seat into a bed (it’s a little tricky and required some manual maneuvers – not just pressing a button). Before long, with a warm duvet covering me, I fall into a deep sleep.
All in all it is a great 4.5 hour flight, good service, and great food/drinks.
We land 30 minutes ahead of schedule.
