Flight Review: BR 010 – TPE – YVR (Business Class)

I am sitting in Business Class aisle seat 8K, a single window/aisle seat in a 1-2-1 configuration, on this Eva Air Boeing 777-300 ER flight bound for Vancouver. My partner and I are the last to board as our flight in TG into TPE  was significantly delayed, meaning our bags will not accompany us 😳. I have calculated and my insurance will probably pay out over SG 500 (each) – sweet, as we will get them probably 24 hours later.

Upon entering the cabin I panic at the insistant crying of a baby which thankfully only lasts for 20 minutes and then makes no more sound for the duration of the 10 hour flight. My seat is a proper business class seat with all the bells and whistles; great storage, large TV screen, a fully-flat (and comfy) bed with thick duvet cover, and comes with over-ear noise-cancelling Headphones and a Rimowa amenity kit. And a pair of designer PJs 😊.

I decline all food and drink options, and wait until we have ascended high enough for the seatbelt lights to distinguish so I can change into pajamas, recline my seat into a bed, and sleep for about 6 hours.

I wake up to my pre-ordered rack of lamb from the business class special menu and it is pretty good, served with a prelude of smoked salmon on zucchini slice tartlet, Hors D”oeuvre of a prawn and grilled asparagus thingy, and ending with Cherry Cheesecake and Taiwanese tea.

Although there is also a breakfast menu, it is actually 5pm local time so decline this as well.

I watch a comedy starring Seth Rogen and, gosh, I forget the actresses’ name. It is pretty stupid but helps time pass.

Although the service is excellent and the seat comfortable for the long flight, I feel I can’t get the most of the Eva Air Business Class experience due to time zone changes and my messed-up body clock.
