Villa Review: Samaragiri, Talpe (Galle), Sri Lanka

Having travelled east to Kandy, and overnight in Colombo, I have decided to travel a couple of hours south to my friend’s gorgeous boutique villa about 20 minutes by bus from Galle.

This artistically renovated four bedroom house, each room with its own ensuite bathroom, is located a short 4 minute walk from Talpe railway station (the mode of transport I took from Colombo in a second-class train carriage – a story in itself).

My oversized room is tastefully decorated with a king-sized bed, ample storage space, sitting area, outdoor terrace overlooking the garden infinity pool, sperate bathroom with standalone bathtub, and southeast Asian inspired outdoor rainshower.

The garden is delightful and alive with the sounds of birds singing and insects chirping. Two hammocks are also attached to coconut trees providing a relaxing way to de-stress and revive.

The pool pavillion serves breakfast each morning starting with a delicious fruit platter followed by toast with preserves and eggs to your liking, served with plunger coffee or tea.

There is a common lounge area with comfortable seating, an array of books, and complimentary tea and coffee available at any time of the day.

Two onsite staff, Anuradha and Tharaka, are on call 24 hours a day to assist you with any requests you may have throughout your stay, from transportation options, restaurant information or advice on what to do in the area.

A truly relaxing stay.
