Yes, you read it correctly. I am on a tight budget being jobless, but that doesn’t stop me travelling – fulfilling my passion of exploring the world!
I have booked this single, shared bathroom room on booking.com and the price is an insane USD 8 net!
Centrally located in the heart of Kandy, the hostel is not too big, but as I was the ONLY Guest it seemed pretty big.
The owner, Peter, is a lovely local proprietor, devout Christian, and overall lovely, helpful man. He organised a Tuk Tuk tour for me with a guide named Ruban, who spent an evening and half of the next day showing me the sites of Kandy, and even a short visit to his family home high up in the tea growing mountains – absolutely stunning. I don’t usually do this on my blog but if you go to Kandy I highly recommend him: WhatsApp him on +94 77 653 6092.
Back to the hostel. My room is basic. There is a bed, fan, and mosquito net. Showers are downstairs. Bring toiletries and a towel or pay 100 Lak for one to borrow.
Would I stay here again? I’m too old to deprive myself of a little luxury so probably not. But I recommend it if you. want an ultra cheap and cheerful place to stay.
