Being Chinese New Year most hotels with available rooms are pricey, but Uinn, about 15 mins from the Taipei CBD, and a convenient brisk 10 min walk to Shilin Night Market is very reasonable.
I am immediately struck by the hotel’s funky interior as I check-in; a pseudo Citizen M-cum-Aloft feel. Colorful ceiling lights, exceptionally friendly staff, and a good location make it an excellent choice when visiting this city.
My room is on the 10th of 11 floors, and is well designed using all available space. A sliding door creates a one-bedroom feel, although it is essentially an oversized studio.
There is a small gym and coin-laundry on B1.
Breakfast is served every morning in the cafe adjacent to the lobby, and it offers a variety of hot and cold local and western dishes. Although it is a pretty good spread, it doesn’t really change and after 3 days of eating it, I am looking forward to going back to my daily morning smoothie.
All in all a good stay.
