Flight Review: VN613 – HAN – BKK (Business Class paid upgrade)

I am sitting in seat 3A in the 2 x 2 Business class cabin on this Airbus A320 Vietnam Airlines flight.

This upgrade purchased from Optiontown.com costs about USD 80 and not sure yet if it is the best value as Lounge Access was not included (see previous post).

The seat is super basic for Business class – only 1 button to put the seat back a fraction. No AV except for a shared screen that unfolds from the ceiling. It is more domestic then international short haul. The saving grace is as soon as I sit down, I am offered a wet towel and a choice of Champagne, Orange or Apple juice. I choose Champagne.

After take-off the refreshment orders are taken with a choice of seafood or pork with rice or beef noodles. I choose the seafood rice with a glass of red wine. I also ask for a blanket and pillow but apparently there are no pillows……but I get 2 blankets instead.

The meal is not too bad. It comes with a salad, choice of bread, and a local dessert. I finish with a coffee.

I watch one episode of ‘Designated Survivor’ on my laptop before falling asleep for about 45 mins, when I am woken up for our descent into Bangkok.

Rating: 7/10. Value-wise, the economy leg coming over was better value.
