Super excited to be flying on SQ’s A350-900 series aircraft in their new Business Class product. My understanding is these seats are the biggest in its class and they are huge! And so multi-functional!

I am sitting in seat 11F, the first row on the plane, which forms the middle aisle of a 1-2-1 configuration Business class cabin. Normally I would go for the single seat but I am flying with partner today! Row 11 according to all the reviews is the best as the leg room is greater and there is no diagonal slant – your legs are fully straight in the sleeping position.

Prior to take-off a hot towel service and pre-departure drink comes around. I take a glass of the Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve whilst giving my lunch order (beef cheek) and post take-off drink (White Russian).

Soon after take-off the a White Russian comes around as well as a chicken and beef satay starter. The appetizer comes next which is a smoked cod dish with beetroot sauce. My partner also hands me some of his pre-ordered duck main. I like the duck, but not the Cod. The wine I choose with my appetizer is an Italian Red – ‘2013 Marchesi de Frescobaldi Castello di Nipozzano ‘Nipozzano’, Chianti Rufina Riserva’, Tuscany – I kid you not – a huge name but a good drop. The beef cheek main is OK with vegetables is OK.

For dessert, I choose both options – the chocolate ice cream with vanilla sauce, AND the Calamansi-Rasperry Dome. This is followed by a plate of goat’s cheese, and then end with a Cafe Royal.

I watch a couple of movies before extending the seat into a 180 degree fully-flat bed for a few hours of sleep. This lasts about 3 hours before I wake up at 5.30pm Amsterdam time (11.30pm Singapore time) – uh oh, I feel I am going to come down with a bout of massive jet lag with 6.5 hours still to go (and I am wide awake).

It’s now 3.42am and that means breakfast time. After my fruit plate and optional cereal, I choose the Belgium 🇧🇪 waffles for my main. Delicious.

Overall service is good, but the cabin is a little cold throughout the entire flight. Blankets are provided but without them tightly wrapped around me, it is pretty chilly.

We arrive before schedule.
