Flight Review: SQ975 – BKK – SIN

Blown away upon boarding this Boeing B-777-200 aircraft at the age of the Business Class product. Old! The seats seem like they are from 19 years ago, and although large and plush, are velvety-blue, unlike the cream-coloured leather ones I am used to.

I am sitting in seat 12A, the coveted 1st seat on the aircraft in a 2-3-2 configured Business class cabin.

As soon as I am seated I am offered and accept a chilled glass of Charles Heidsieck about Reserve and a hot face towel. Magazines are next and my favourite Business Traveller is handed over.
I look through the menu thinking about what I will order for lunch and decide upon the ‘Braised Beef Short Rib with 40 Cloves of Garlic’. Luckily that seat next to me is vacant! This is served with ‘Assorted Mini Thai Dessert’, Gourmet Breads, and coffee – I am going to select Cafe Royal (lightly sweetened espresso with a touch of XO brandy).
I watch the space drama, Passengers, on the economy-sized AV screen. Very enjoyable and it stops me from thinking of the size of the screen.
Meal service comes and it is delicious! The beef short ribs melt in my mouth and the gravy is to die for. Garlic bread complements the garlicky sauce, and a glass of French 2012 Chateau Peyrabon Haut Medoc goes well with my lunch. Followed by a ‘Silver Kris Sling’ and the Cafe Royal with some chocolate biscuits.
The seatbelt lights illuminate before I finish the movie.
