A stressful rush to the airport was counter-balanced with a paid upgrade at check-in to Business class, for only SIN $122! Well worth it – a savings of nearly $100 had I purchased an upgrade online. Although absolutely no time to use the Skyteam lounge, being one of the first onboard with a huge seat and delicious food was well worth every cent!
The seating configuration in business class on this Boeing 777-300 aircraft is 2-3-2 which I have not seen before. My seat is 5D, an aisle seat in the middle section.
A short while after boarding we are offered pre-take off drinks; I choose a champagne and shouldn’t, as I am not feeling very well. Hopefully this will make me feel better.
Dinner service starts a while after take-off. I choose the ‘Top chef Farah Quinn’s semur beef stew with coconut rice and stir fried carrot and baby corn’ – delicious. The pineapple cake ‘nastar’ is a winner. I enjoy this with a glass of ‘Matsu “El Picaro”‘ 2014 – red wine from Spain and the KLM signature cocktail – ‘The Flying Dutchman Cocktail’ – Damrak gin, Bois blackberry liquor, fresh lemon juice, and sugar syrup.
I finish off my meal with a Amarula liquor (like a Baileys from South Africa) and freshly brewed coffee. And then…the chocolate box. I take 2:
The service is completed with KLM’s signature pottery houses filled with liquor as a gift to take home:
The service is lovely, the food delicious, seat comfy, and the entertainment selection spot on.
