I haven’t flown on Cathay for a long time and forget how amazing the service is. I guess due to my OneWorld Emerald status, about 5 minutes after boarding, a flight attendant comes to my seat (39K; 1st Bulkhead behind Business class) and personally introduces herself to me whilst she hands me a bottle of Evian water. With a smile she asks if there is anything she can do for me (I immediately think ‘upgrade’ but don’t actually utter the request) and ask for a non-bulkhead seat as the legroom is quite restrictive. She immediately obliges and I get 2 seats to myself a couple of rows back in this 2-4-2 row configuration Airbus A330-300 aircraft.
The economy seat is ergonomically designed in such a way that the recline position slides the seat forwards as opposed to leaning back. It is quite comfortable.
The CX Studio system has a vast array of movies and entertainment (not quite at SQ’s level) but I find a Japanese coming of age movie, ‘Orange’, to watch and only manage to get through half of it before a fall into a deep sleep.
During the movie though, breakfast comes around and I choose the western breakfast out of this and Congee. It’s not bad but I am not hungry due to eating an hour or so earlier in the lounge.
