Sitting in a nice quiet spot near the buffet, being serenaded by ‘You Light Up My Life’ pipped through the music system, and sipping an exceptionally good latte, I am relaxed and ready for my relatively short flight to Bangkok.

My breakfast here today is a mishmash of ‘East meets West’, with sticky rice and Chinese sausage; stir-fried ‘BeeHoon’ noodles, and a tuna and mayo sambo on brown bread.

It always surprises me in these lounges when there is free-flow beer and open bottles of wine so early in the morning (8.30am). And it surprises me even more that some guests are actually drinking at this time as well.
