Hostel Review: Tube 18 – Green Island, Taiwan

I found this hostel on Klook but then booked on booking.com. I was attracted to the capsule-style of accomodation it offers with soundproof rooms and locks in each pod. Also it looks pretty cool.

Pretty at night
And during the day…

It is located about 2 kms from the ferry port and airport giving it an aura of seclusion, with a private beach fantastic for snorkling literally across the road.

Great little private beach

The 18 tubes each hold either 6 dorm-style capsules, or a double bed. I go with a dorm bed which is extremely comfortable and as a bonus, I am the only one in the room for 3 nights.

Comfortable bed!

Breakfast is served each day and the hostel also provides lunch and dinner for an additional fee if you request in advance for a nominal charge.

The highlight though are the staff who exemplify service throughout my stay. They are incredibly friendly and go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. For example, one night I felt like a beer and asked if they sell it. They said no, but would take me to the 7-11 to buy some. On another night I brought my dinner back to the hostel and ate in the dining room, and a staff member came over and offered me some local snacks he was eating to have with my meal.

If you are coming to Green Island and plan to ‘rough it’ in a hostel, this is the place to do it!
