I am sitting in emergency exit row aisle seat 58H, on this Singapore Airlines Boeing 787-10 flight from Taipei bound for Singapore. This is not my original seat, I was on the opposite side of the aircraft in middle exit row seat 58B squashed between 2 passengers and prior to takeoff asked a flight attendant if I could move to the empty seat with no one in the middle. Very lucky indeed.

Shortly after take off the drink service begins and I regretfully choose a Singapore Sling – regrettable as I haven’t had a drink for 5 weeks. This is served with a small packet of nuts.

Whilst waiting for my dinner, I watch ‘Abba – the Lost 40 years’ – a documentary explaining what happened after the bands split until now. I choose the chicken which comes with cheesecake for dessert. I have this with a ginger ale.

For the remainder of the flight I watch a documentary on the negative aspects of Vegan diets – very interesting, and read a book on my iPad.

We land on time.
