The pics look great right? Sometimes we need to look beyond the pretty pics to learn the truth.
I have booked this one-bedroom pool villa on booking.com as it looks great and at a good price point (about USD 80 per night).
Upon arrival the lobby is being cleaned so we are given welcome watermelon juice on two makeshift chairs in the parking lot.
Shortly after we are taken to our room only to find out we have been upgraded to a two-story villa which I didn’t want as I preferred the single-story layout of the one we chose.
We decide to stay as I am not well and can’t be bothered moving. Downside no bathtub and stairs to climb but the pool is significantly bigger.
So it’s all lovely but the biggest issue is the noise. Just terrible. A deep base thump that comes from a nearby cafe or restaurant from 1.30pm to 11.30pm on both nights. And on top if that the paper-thin walls of the villa roof means we hear our neighbours talking and doing other ‘things’ all through the night. No sleep for 2 nights.
Breakfast is very mediocre and now I know why it has such a low score on booking.com (about 2.5/10).
On day 3 we decide to leave. After speaking to booking.com and the GM of the property, he agrees to refund 2 nights’ accomodation. I must say this is the first time I have left a hotel mid-stay.
It really is a shame as the staff are so lovely.
