I am sitting in seat 5D, an aisle seat, on this KLM Boeing 777-300 aircraft bound for Denpasar-Bali. I originally purchased a discount Economy class ticket but was able to score a SGD 150 upgrade at the check-in counter. An absolute bargain!

The seat is spacious, converting into a fully flat bed at the press of a button. I use it in this mode for about 30 minutes post-dinner, whilst watching ‘Ladies of Soul’ – the greatest hits of the 60s to now in concert live from Amsterdam with the noise-cancelling headphones provided.
Service begins with a glass of Nicolas Feuillatte Champagne and a hot wet towel. Dinner is a choice of beef and fish. I choose the former with a glass of Argentinian Malbec, and it is delicious – ‘Daging kari with nasi kuning rice, fried shallots and coriander’, preceeded by an entree of chicken skewers in a cashew nut paste, and a dessert of Yuzu tart, followed by a Baileys, coffee, and chocolate KLM house.

Service is swift and friendly, and it is remarkable what can be achieved in an under 2.5 hour flight. It ends with KLM’s signature gift – a alcohol filled Dutch pottery house.
I wasnt expecting to fly Business Class today so this is a real treat.
