Flight Review: QF 580 – PER – SYD (Business Class)

I am sitting in seat 3H in the middle of the Business Class cabin on this Airbus A330-300 Qantas flight bound for Sydney. I have used 25,000 miles to upgrade my ex-work paid ticket. Pretty good use of miles considering Business Class on this route is extremely expensive.

The seat is an individual consol in a 1-2-1 configuration, with all the usual plug-ins and culminating in a fully-flat bed. It’s quite comfy, and although a short flight (just under 4 hours) I try the bed. Not bad.

Service starts with a pre-drink service and I choose the Maggie Beer Ruby Red. Shortly after take-off drink service continues and I request a red and then a sparkling. Lunch orders are also taken.

I choose the Seared Ocean Trout entree, followed by the Red Braised Chicken. This is finished with Baked Meringue with Passionfruit cream and strawberries (but comes with Blueberries :)) AND the Maggie Beer burnt fig ice-cream. Yum. The dessert goes well with a glass of dessert wine.

For most of the flight I watch 2 docos – one is ‘Studio 54’ and the other one on Jimmy Barnes (from Cold Chisel). I also sleep for about 45 mins and wake up refreshed.

We land on time.
