Flight Review: SQ 424 – SIN – BOM

Very excited to be flying on my first SQ Business Class flight on the Airbus A380, utilizing a mere 37500 points return. My seat is on the Upper deck, 12A, in a 1-2-1 configuration.

The seat itself is huge – kind of like a mini-sofa with 2 large pillows angled to the side. Although large and loaded with functions, it seems to be a bit worn and the controls need to be pressed firmly to work.

Nonetheless I accept a pre-flight glass of champagne and a red Solitaire Cocktail shortly after boarding and settle myself into ‘Age of Adeline’ – a movie I have been wanting to watch for some time now, on a very large personal screen.

Shortly after a smooth take-off, a business-class only video pops on the screen showing passengers who to convert their seat into a fully-flat bed. It’s all too complicated for me so we I choose to sleep later in the flight I get a flight attendant to do it for me.
I had pre-ordered ‘Book the Cook’ – again the Classic Lobster Thermidor which was delicious, but after the Seared Scollop appetizer and garlic bread, I wasn’t very hungry. Yet I still managed to finish it. Dessert was a choice of sorbet or ice-cream or both with a fruit platter and optional cheese and pralines with coffee/tea.

Although the seat is huge, when converted into a bed it becomes quite narrow and angled, which for me is OK, but perhaps might be a tad tight for larger passengers.

All in all it was well worth the 37500 Krisflyer miles for the return 5-hour (each way) flight.
