Even though I am originally booked on a 4.20pm flight, as a Sapphire Oneworld member, I can change to this earlier 2.20pm flight without penalty. As an added bonus, I am given seat 53C – an emergency exit row with full leg-room.

The flight attendants are as pleasant as ever, even though their service is in high demand from the mainly mainland China passengers.

I sit back and relax prior to take off with a great view of the noisy passengers rushing past me to get to their seats.

Meal is not good. Surprised as Cathay generally has a good reputation. Sweet and Sour ‘gluggy’ chicken. Gross. But the Hagan Daaz
ice-cream is a winner. As is the glass of red.

I don’t watch a movie but try to sleep instead. Doesn’t work.
