Flight review: JL 772 – SYD-TKO
Considering I am upgraded at check-in to Premium Economy I am naturally very excited about what lies ahead. The service from start to finish is impeccable – nothing is too difficult or bothersome for JAL staff – there is just no such thing as a ‘too hard basket’.
I am sitting in row 19, seat H which is an isle Premium Economy shell-seat. The recline is comfortable, screen larger than normal, and there are pockets in the seat for you to place your passport, pen, bits and pieces etc.
Take-off is on-time – I think JAL pays a bit extra at Sydney Airport to go from the gate to take-off within a few minutes – there is no queue and as soon as the emergency video stops we are literally in the air.
Service starts almost immediately with cocktails and Japanese おつまみ (nuts and rice crackers) followed shortly after by lunch. I have pre-ordered a seafood meal and it comes first in the cabin and is quite delicious – a shrimp salad, miso soup, green salad, fish with vegetables, and ice-cream for dessert. I match this with warm Sake.
I watch a couple of movies – the last installment of the ‘Bourne’ series, and ‘The Candidate’.
After a short nap, the second meal
service begins. This time, it is a tuna sandwich which looks pretty awful so I ask for the standard snack which is a mini quiche!
Great flight – 9/10
