I am yet again, and for the last time, sitting in seat 1A on this, yes, you guessed it, Avianca Airbus A320 flight from Bogota to New York. It’s an 11.30pm departure and a little over 5-hour 10-minute flight time so I’m not exactly thrilled to be on this red-eye and make a note to myself for next time to try to avoid these flights.

I get the same card for the 5th time welcoming me on board and reminding me how extraordinary this flight is going to be. Yeah, right.

An amenity pack is handed out prior to take off. It has socks which is a relief as I want to take my shoes off and don’t want to put them back on everytime I want to use the bathroom. There is also a blanket and pillow on the seat.

About 30 mins into the flight the dinner service comes around starting with a hot towel. I choose the pasta – 3 large pasta rings with ricotta and tomato. It’s not bad. Dessert is a delicious apple pie cream mousse.

I watch a bit of TV via the Avianca AV system streamed to my phone, then clean my teeth and sleep until we are about to land.
