We have booked this resort on booking.com due to its high rating. Yet as you will read by the end of this review I am astonished at how it has received such a high review. It’s awful.

The process to check-in is convoluted and challenging to navigate. Think shuttle busses, long walks, and queues. Among the continuous calls of ‘Thank you, Sir’ we make it to the front desk to be told we have been upgraded – meaning a room closer to the ‘action’. ‘Great!’, we think and are excited to our room on the 3rd floor of building 8.

Upon entering the room we are dismayed at the lack of amenities and tired feel it presents. Only 2 toothbrushes and 2 towels, 2 instant coffee sachets and 2 cream powders. A small TV. No balcony. No bath. Pitiful internet. And the noise of screaming kids next door.

I quickly check the cancellation policy but we are locked in for the next 5 nights.

I don’t want to waste my time writing too much more about this ‘resort’ except that it was a huge mistake.

The lowlights:

1. Breakfast is appalling – the worst in memory. Heavily carb-loaded and lacking protein, vegetables, and any other colour except white and yellow. Rice and more rice, pasta, bread, a fried dish, 1 kind of fruit – usually tasteless yellow watermelon, and weak black brewed coffee. Sugar-saturated where possible.
2. Getting around – unless you are up for a hike, we have to wait for the uncomfortable shuttles to take us around the resort.
3. Private Beach – strewn with garbage and seaweed. I don’t understand as they is a staff to guest ratio of 1:2/3 so surely they can utilize many of those just idly standing to help clean the beach
4. The gym: pretty gross – no air conditioning as far as I can tell, stuffy, stinky, old equipment, and no towels provided.

The only positive for me is the à la carte food in the many restaurants the resort has. There is not much choice to eat outside as the location is secluded and far away from the main drag and getting there is such a hassle with the shuttles etc. And although it is expensive, it is surprising good.

Stay away at all costs.
