I am sitting in aisle seat 20D, on this Virgin Australia flight bound for Denpasar (Bali) from Sydney.

I had no idea at the time of booking but VA is essentially a ‘no-frill’ low cost carrier – no entertainment, no free meals, just complimentary tea, coffee, and water, plus a menu-for-pay similar to Jetstar and Scoot.

But I got 50% off my ticket as I am an AIA Vitality Platinum member.

Nonetheless I have downloaded 7 episodes of the new Netflix series “Interview with a Vampire” which keeps me fully occupied for most of the over 5-hour flight.

Feeling a bit peckish I order the 3-snack special of banana cake, Pringles, and Cheese & Crackers for a mere $14 😳.

The flight attendants are perky throughout, yet somehow woke at the same time. It’s weird.
