I am sitting in aisle seat 41H in the first row of economy on this Singapore airlines Boeing B777-300ER flight bound for Singapore from Sydney.

The seat is slightly narrower than a standard seat as it has the AV screen fitted into the side of it, whereas the other 2 seats have their screen attached to the bulkhead wall in front. It’s an unusual layout but great for me as there are no seats in front and I can stretch out my legs for the entire flight.

Shortly after on-time take-off a hot towel and first meal is served. I have pre-ordered seafood meals so I get a simple tuna and cheese Foccacia and a tea. It’s a little salty. Whilst eat I start to watch a Singaporean ‘Save Our Street Dogs’ movie called ‘Homebound’ but am so tired from the early morning start that I drift off for a couple of hours.
A packet of peas and crackers and a drink comes next followed by lunch. My seafood meal is disgusting. It seems like the fish is undercooked and bland. It comes with a quinoa side that is bizarre, and a ‘diet’ jelly that is revolting. I tell the flight attendant and ask for the standard dish – spicy chicken, and it is equally inedible. Singapore Airlines has really lowered the bar with their economy food. The only good thing was the ice cream.

For the rest of the flight I get and sleep.
We land pretty much on time.
