I am sitting in Premium Economy seat 6A, a window seat, on this Air India Airbus A320 series flight bound for Mumbai from New Delhi.
There are 24 seats in this cabin – 4 rows or 3 x 3. Premium Economy is literally only $25 more than Economy so I jump at the deal. Seating wise it seems to be the same as Economy but it looks like the seats are slightly ‘plushier’, at the front, and have headrests that move. There is a USB charger (which doesn’t work) and no video screen (but it does have ‘Vista Stream’ to your own device via WiFi.

There are a few other perks: a cold towel service prior to take off, a dedicated premium economy menu, oh – and priority luggage tagging.

Prior to take-off the aircon condensation is like a blanket of thick fog and goes on for a good 5 minutes. It is weird.

We leave the gate about 6 mins ahead of schedule which seems to be a good sign, but we then wait on the tarmac for 10 mins.
The meal service comes around and I order one of the two vegetarian options. It’s ok. I had hoped to watch something online but there is nothing that particularly appeals to me so continue with an episode of the show I have been watching on my iPad.

It’s a short flight of just under 2 hours and we land exactly on time.
