My flight cancellation means we have to exit customs and collect our baggage from the carousel. No communication nor notification from the airline.
This is the reality of war.
I quickly find one room left at the Hilton (it’s 11pm) and grab an Uber for a short 5 minute ($15 😳) ride.
I am given the last room on the basement 2nd floor and am welcomed by a dark lightless corridor as the electricity seems to be out or a Swiss method of efficiently conserving energy.
The room is basic with no Gold Hhonors welcome amenities and two small single beds (this is a $350 room).


There is a gym which I don’t use and a sauna only open from 5pm to 9pm.
I go to bed and the next day wake up and have the free breakfast (as a Gold Hhonors member).
Then on to the shuttle bus to the airport to find another hotel.
Although the service is good, it’s a pretty crappy hotel for the price. But hopefully it’s covered by insurance.
Let’s see if my flight will leave tomorrow afternoon.
