Flight Review: GQ 252 – ATH – CHQ

I am sitting in aisle seat 8C, on this Sky Express ATR 72-600 propeller flight from Athens to Chania (Crete). I thought row 8 would be near the front and was happy, only to find out upon boarding (and exiting) that it’s done from the rear of the plane, so getting off the gate bus and waiting in the heat outside to board is not a pleasant experience.

Of course there is no AV screen available nor WiFi so I try to continue reading ‘Nexus’ on my Kindle app on my iPad but soon nod off.

Shortly after refreshments are served – a tiny cookie, juice, water or coffee.

It’s only a 45 min flight so there are zero expectations. Well, I hope to land on time but we don’t, as we depart about 30 mins late due to ‘heavy congestion’ at Athens airport.

One thing about the ATR prop planes is that they are very noisy internally; with an ongoing ‘boom’ thundering noise echoing in your ears the entire flight.

We land significantly behind schedule.
