Hotel Review: Riad Hamdani, Casablanca

I have chosen this Riad as I want to be near the airport and it also has a swimming pool.

The Riad offers multiple free airport transfers so I take advantage of it after arriving by the convenience of the airport train. I call via WhatsApp and within 10 minutes the shuttle car arrives.

The Riad is more like a motel-style complex with a garden and a large swimming pool. There is nothing in the nearby vicinity so take up their offer of dinner. For EUR15 you get a simple 3-course meal of soup, chicken tangine, and a scoop of strawberry ice cream, and a bottle of water followed by tea.

The swimming pool is a respite from the heat and I spend a good hour doing laps and sunbathing.

The room is pretty simple, with a large double bed and more importantly, Netflix, which I watch in the late afternoon as it’s too hot to venture outside.

A simple yet comfortable room

A simple breakfast is also included in the price – around EUR50 per night.

The highlight is the host. On day two I am waiting for a share car to pick me up and take me into town to visit a dentist as I’ve lost a filing. He offers to take me for free and tells me his friend is a dentist and can offer me a big discount. Sure, why not? After about 25 mins we arrive and it is one of the most modern dental practices I’ve ever seen. And my treatment is only EUR45 including an x-ray. AND – as I only want to pay by cash, the Riad host pays for me in cash so that I can swipe my card at his Riad in the evening. He also offers me cash if I am short for the day. I decline but it is the hospitality that really amazes me.

If you need a place to stay by the airport for an early flight, I highly recommend this Riad!
