I am sitting in business class seat 14E, a middle aisle seat (next to my partner) on this recently refurbished Thai Airways Airbus A350-900 flight bound for Bangkok from Sydney.

The seat is new, clean, and very functional, with plenty of storage space, a large oversized TV, and small noise cancelling headphones. On the seat are 2 pillows, an amenity kit which I don’t open, and a thick purple blanket.

Prior to take-off a flight attendant comes around to introduce herself and share some facts about this flight, as well as take the meal orders. Another flight attendant hands out a hot towel and drink (I take a tamarind juice). oh, and Royal Silk pajamas – something I wasn’t expecting on a day flight, let alone on Thai Airways.

Shortly after takeoff the drinks cart comes around and I get a delicious Ice Thai Milk tea with grass-jelly. This comes with some nuts and an appetizer – smoked salmon and watermelon. It’s delicious. This is followed about 20 mins later with the main course, a red curry and fish cakes. Next is a cheese plate. I’m getting very full……The first meal service finally ends with Chocolate cake and a hot chocolate 😅. It’s delicious.

After watching a 2-part doco on Zuckerberg, I recline my seat to a fully-flat bed position and sleep restfully for a good 3 hours.

I wake up and start watching Nashville season 1 until the end of the flight. During this time the second meal service comes around, after another hot towel service. It’s also delicious – a fried rice with shrimp, fruit, and a delicious apple crumble cake.

We land 25 mins ahead of schedule, and all in all is a very good flight. I’m actually surprised as the reviews I read were less favorable.
