Hotel Review: Hilton Garden Inn, Old Riga Town

This is a lovely modern hotel right on the border of old Riga town. Upon checking-in, I am upgraded to a deluxe king room, which has a beautiful view of the rooftops of some of the houses in old town on one side and a charming alleyway on the other. The room has a separate lounge room with sofa bed two TVs and a shower room with no bathtub.

Being a Hilton Garden Inn there is a small self-service shop by the entrance in the foyer and a fully serviced restaurant which offers free full buffet breakfasts for diamond members and I think gold members as well. There are a lot of choices, including some Latvian favorites.

A bonus of this hotel is that there is a free guest laundry which I use twice. You just have to buy a washing tablet which cost €4.50 which I feel is very expensive so I go to the local supermarket and buy a packet of 20 tablets for just 3.99!

In the basement, there is a functional but sparse gym, which I use on both days to exercise off all the food that I’ve been eating, although it’s probably unnecessary because I’ve been averaging 20,000 steps per day with all of the walking tours I’ve been going on.

The hotel and in fact, old town, is only a 10 to 15 minute drive from the airport so upon checkout, I grab a Bolt to the airport for around €10 – very cheap for this part of the world.

I highly recommend this hotel if you are coming to visit Riga.
