I’m staying at this hotel on a points plus cash stay and upon check-in I am upgraded to an ‘executive view’ room, which has beautiful views over Tallinn park. As a Hilton Honors diamond member I am automatically upgraded to a one bedroom suite, but I decline as it has views over the industrial side of the city as opposed to the park and old city of Tallinn. For an extra €30 per night which the front desk attendant discounts to €15 per night, I’m able to get the one bedroom suite ‘with view’ but decline as I’m only staying for two nights and I don’t need such a big room, and with the Taiwan and Australia dollar against the euro being weak, my cash portion of this stay still makes it quite expensive as it is.

Nonetheless, the room is spacious and has a separate bath and shower, a Nespresso machine and all the required amenities I need including two very thick and heavy bath robes and slippers, which I use when I go to the spa area and use the finish sauna, steam room and warm indoor pool.

This Hilton property has an executive lounge and upon check-in at Reception, I’m told it’s one of if not the best in Europe but compared to Asian Hilton hotels it falls way below par. There is only one hot item – deep fried crab on day one and meatballs on day, some fruit and nuts, and a couple of sandwiches and rolls, and additionally, breakfast is not served in the lounge but only at the main restaurant on the second floor – again compared to Asian Hilton hotels, the offerings are below par, but the service is good.

I’m now moving onto Riga and Vilnius followed by Kraków and looking forward to seeing what the lower Hilton brands of Hilton Garden Inn and Hampton by Hilton are going to be like.
