Flight Review: TK125 – TPE – IST

I am sitting in business class seat 2K, a window seat in a 1-2-1 configuration on this Turkish Airlines 787-9 flight bound for Istanbul from Taipei.

The seat is the new business class product and is very comfortable with all the comfort gadgets you could imagine. There are a pair of Denon noise-canceling earphones, a vanity pack with products from Ferragamo Parfums, slippers, and a warm blanket.

A chef with chef’s hat comes around and passes out the menu and soon after that a flight attendant offers a selection of juices.

A hot towel service is next followed by meal selection. I choose the codfish but when it comes, it is a little dry, and I am full from the delicious red lentil soup and ‘seafood melody’ entree with 2 bread rolls. For dessert there is a cart that comes around with a few different delicious choices – I choose the raspberry and chocolate cake, and caramel ice cream. By the end, I am stuffed 😅.

After lunch, and without asking, a flight attendant comes around to make my bed. What great timing! I am so tired from an early start and I can’t wait to fall into a deep sleep.

Well…for about 3 or 4 hours but still great. Shortly after I wake up I check to see if business class has any free WiFi and it does – 1GB to use over 24 hours! A flight attendant also comes around and offers me some snacks and drinks so I get a cookie and a hot chocolate.

More food comes with breakfast and I choose the pancakes. A little dry but not bad at 38000 feet. There is also a tray with yogurt, chicken breast, a danish, and fruit and cheese.

Entertainment-wise I watch a couple of movies and the new Superman series ‘Lois and Clark’ which is fun and helps to pass the time.

Overall it’s a good flight. Service by the flight attendants is excellent. The seat and bed great. Just the food isn’t quite Singapore Airlines standard on this flight.
