I am sitting in aisle seat 31H, on this All Nippon Airways B787 flight bound for Haneda from Sydney. I purchased this flight at half price through AIA Vitality as I am a Platinum member and get 2 x 50% cash-backs each year, so this flight costs around AUD 400.
The seat itself is quite compact, with a medium-sized video screen, and slight recline (the type where the seat goes forward with the recline).

Being a Japanese airline the service from the flight crew is immaculate, but the hard product and F&B are inferior to other Asian airlines such as Singapore Airlines.
When the food comes around, I am told there is only Pork and rice left, but when I tell them I don’t eat pork, they come back about 10 minutes later with the chicken and mashed potato main. Miraculous! Trouble is all the sides are frozen. The salad, couscous, and vegetable side – all freezing cold and hard. I don’t bother telling them though. The ice cream is ok though.

And freezing is the cabin as well. For most of the flight I feel like I am sitting in a refrigerator. Even with 2 blankets. Very uncomfortable.
I somehow manage to sleep for a couple of the 9 hours, and watch about 4 episodes of ‘And Just Like That’ and a couple of movies.
Another meal box comes about 2 hours before we land – it is much better – just a Chicken Caesar wrap and some pretzel-things. When the drink carton comes around, the flight attendant spills quite a bit of water on me, and is horrified and profusely apologizes. I find it quite funny 😆.
We land pretty much on schedule.
