I am sitting in aisle seat 30J, on this China Airlines Airbus A330-300 flight from Taipei bound for Osaka, Japan.

My first impression is ‘shock’ walking down the Economy aisle seeing how tiny the AV screens are – my iPad which I luckily bring with me is twice as big. In fact as soon as I sit down I quickly pair my iPad to my phone and download a movie to watch on the flight.

The seats are old (we are later told this plane will be decommissioned next year) and there are no plugs to charge your devices. The pitch is also very narrow.

The worst part of the pre-takeoff is the lack of circulating air in the cabin. It is hot and stuffy. The cabin crew tell us it is due to the age of the plane – hence why it will be decommissioned soon. Safety hazard I would say.

The meal service is nothing special. I choose seafood pasta but wish I hadn’t. The apple – part of dessert – though, is crisp and sweet.

The only standout on this flight is the perfumed facial mist in the toilet 😅 and the service of the crew – outstanding.
