Hotel Review: Oaga Art Resort, Maldives

This is our 4th time to the Maldives and this time we wanted to try an ‘all inclusive’ non-chain resort, and this one was recommended by OV Holidays who we have used in the past.

We decide to stay for 2 nights in an Obi Overwater villa and 2 nights in a Harunge Beach villa. Both are beautiful and distinct in their own way.

The Obi villa is huge, with 2 private pools and a slippery-slide into the turquoise water below. It includes a fully stocked mini bar and 5 pieces of laundry per day.

The Harunge villa is right on the beach, steps away from the ocean and includes the laundry service and a complimentary minibar minus alcohol (which is fine for me as I don’t drink).

Both have outdoor bathrooms and include dressing gowns and slippers, the usual amenities, butler service, and two in-villa dining experiences.

The resort is a 45 min speedboat ride from Male, and is quite small and intimate with probably only 40 villas in total. It is surrounded by white sand and a house reef with reasonably good snorkeling.

Sunset

All meals are included and although the variety is good, everything is either too salty or too sweet. So I wouldn’t recommend it for the food.

3 excursions are included – a fishing trip, sunset cruise (on our last night we encountered a powerful storm halfway), and a guided snorkeling trip. being an ‘Art’ resort there is a resident artist, chef, and musician where guests can take lessons in each area.

Service is generally friendly, there are a couple of hiccups along the way but overall good.

Not sure if I would return to this resort – my favorite so far has been the Como Coconut Island resort we visited a few years ago.
