I have somehow scored an upgrade on ‘Bidnow’ on my upcoming VA flight to Melbourne so am able to use this lounge at SYD T2.

I am a bit excited at first as I haven’t been in this lounge for years.

But on entry and checking out the food options, it’s a bit disappointing. The only hot food item available are scrambled eggs and sausages. Other than that there is bread, cereal, some cut fruit, and a couple of pastries.

To top it off, the staff are very ‘un-Virgin-like’ unfriendly, with a stark contrast to what it was like the many years before when I last came here.

Nonetheless the eggs are really good, and my coffee which is made from an unfriendly barista is not bad.

The lounge itself is over 2 levels but I only use the ground floor. One benefit is the abundance of charging facilities so use the time to power-up my devices for the trip.

And that’s it.

After a couple of hours I go to the boarding gate.
